Maybe you missed Beauty Live 2016 and you’re kicking yourself. Maybe you were there and just want to relive the good times. Either way, we have you covered with plenty of event highlights!

Saturday

BL blog- beauty expert panel

Beauty for Every Woman: Galleria Dallas stylist Holly Quartaro and sassy lifestyle guru Steve Kemble talked to Toni Muñoz-Hunt, Priya Rathod, Joanna Hathcock, Allyn Hoang and Leah Frazier about must-have products for every woman, regardless of age or skin tone. All the participants stressed the importance of being true to yourself and not worrying about what others think. Allyn Hoang said it best, “You’ve got to feel good to look good!”

BL blog- t and g

Always On Trend: Samantha Finley, Austin Finley and Sharayah Quinn from TONI&GUY updated us on the latest hair trends and styles. Braids are definitely back, though the T&G team says hair is “consistently inconsistent,” and it’s important to learn how to work with your own hair without concern for what looks best on someone else. And what about all those flyaways your struggle to tame? They’re actually a good thing as they signal new hair growth.

BL blog- belk

Beauty From the Inside Out: Belk’s Adrian Andrews-Watts and Lisa Rawls introduced three mini sessions featuring three different beauty brands to demonstrate how to make your outside match your fierce and beautiful inside: “Heat Things Up” with Estée Lauder, “Eye of the Storm” with Lancôme and “Supernatural” with Clinique. Then the duo turned the discussion of beauty on the outside to one of beauty on the inside with an onstage interview with Christy Beam, author of the book Miracles From Heaven, which was quickly adapted into a film, starring Jennifer Garner. The juxtaposition of outer and inner beauty offered a meaningful complement to the afternoon’s proceedings.

BL blog- macys

The Best of Macy’s Beauty: Macy’s Cori Prager and Amanda Arther talked about the newest trends in both fashion and beauty, with special appearances from Erik Martinez (Dior), Ashley Moody (Clinique), Lacey Salas (Estée Lauder), Rod Morris (Michael Kors) and Jordan Britt (Lancôme). The Estee Lauder team spoke about its digital shade finder, a genius invention that matches your skin tone to the perfect shade of foundation every time. According to the Clinique team, the two makeup must-haves for spring are Clinique’s Chubby in the Nude foundation stick and the Long Last Soft Matte lipstick in Matte Suede. The Lancôme team turned the spotlight on the brand’s top-selling mascara — six out of the 10 bestsellers on the market today are Lancôme.

BL blog- sephora

Correct and Conceal: Kylie Castillo from Sephora showed us the best way to make your skin look as flawless as you feel. Her tips? “Use the skin tone under your eye as a guide when deciding what color corrector you should use,” and “The key to applying bronzer is to lightly brush over the forehead, jawline and chin.” Ah. Now we get it!

Perfect Brows and Custom Contour: Lashonda Hathorn from Anastasia Beverly Hills taught us the best brow shape for our face and how to contour like a Kardashian. We learned that “brow size should reflect your facial feature size. Full lips and wide eyes should be complemented by a full brow.” That’s what we call “on fleek.”

Get Fresh: We got crafty with LUSH Cosmetics’ Chip Laymon and Danielle Wheeler. They taught us how to mix and match fresh ingredients to make your own cosmetics, as well as shared a few of their favorite LUSH products, including an all-natural face mask. (Hello, chocolate cupcake!)

BL blog- irving penn

Beauty Through the Lens of Famed Photographer Irving Penn: To celebrate the Dallas Museum of Art’s exhibition “Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty,” iconic local model Jan Strimple led a conversation about the relationship between the fashion industry and fine arts, including Penn’s influence on modern fashion photography, with DMA curator Sue Canterbury and famed Dallas fashion photographer Richard Krall. A live model dressed in Penn’s 1950s style struck different poses as Krall photographed her while explaining how the subtle movement of a finger, an arm gesture or slight tilt of the head can affect the composition of a fashion shot.

BL blog- jw stage

Things definitely cooled down on day two of  Beauty Live, and we mean that literally! Olympic ice skater Johnny Weir shared his gold-medal fashion secrets in a discussion with Steve Kemble that may or may not have included an impromptu book signing.

BL blog- housewives

The Real Guide to Beauty: The Real Housewives of Dallas’ LeeAnne Locken and Tiffany Hendra talked about loving yourself on and off the camera, disregarding social media drama and, of course, their favorite beauty secrets. Here’s a tip from Tiffany Hendra: Blueberries are great for your skin and your attitude. We’ll definitely take that one to heart.

Then, in a stellar finale, Johnny Weir and 30 local figure skaters put on the most incredible and dare we say chilling performance on the Galleria Dallas Ice Rink. Luckily, we captured the entire performance so you can enjoy it again and again. Here it is!

We’re already starting the countdown to next year’s Beauty Live!
