Holly’s September Hot List

Seasons change, and with them so do our closets. Worried you’ll have nothing to wear come fall? Have no fear; my September Hot List is here!

Score an A in fall fashion

Aline

Who doesn’t love an A-line skirt? They’re universally flattering, easy to wear and effortless! I’m loving the A-line beauties I’m seeing on the runways for fall. Some of my favorites? This white knee-length skirt by Club Monaco that looks sweet and super soft, and this bordeaux faux leather skirt by BCBG that recalls the Mod look. I adore the rich, dark florals in this moody Ted Baker pleated skirt from Nordstrom, and the inverted pleat on this knee-length skirt from Forever 21, which feels ’70s but with a modern twist.

Peek-a-booties, I see you!

By the time fall comes around, my friends and I are so ready for boots! This year, open-toe booties are back, and they smooth the transition from summer to fall and winter. They’re versatile and can be worn with dresses, jeans and pants such as this pair by Kristin Cavallari available at Nordstrom. You can also dress them up (try these snakeskin stunners by Guess at Belk), or keep it cool and casual with this pair by Vince Camuto featuring fringe and a chunky heel. Whatever you choose, you should be able to get away with an open-toe silhouette in Dallas well into the winter months.

Tie one on … your blouse

Throwbacks are big for fall, and one huge trend we’re seeing is blouses decked with neckties and bows. They’re ladylike, for sure, but with a bit more edge this time around. These tops can be sleeveless as seen on this halter by Express or on this blue sleeveless number from Belk, or long-sleeved such as this Wayf top, found at Nordstrom. Perfect for work or an after-hours cocktail, these versatile ’70s-inspired pieces pack lots of personality, whether paired with wide-legged pants or our next hot list item: flared denim.

Flare, flare, everywhere!

You thought flared denim was all but dead and gone, but not so! The ’70s favorite is back and is one of the biggest trends of the season. Shoot for mid to high waist in any and all washes for looks from casual to dressy. This flare from Gap sports a deconstructed wash and veers to the more relaxed end of the spectrum while these rinse-wash indigo kick flare jeans by Karen Millen are more dressed up. The super light wash on these Free People flares from Macy’s lends a dressed-down vibe, so opt for a breezy top and boho accessories to complete your fall look. You can never have enough pieces of flare!

Tassels go from head to toe

Meet the newest spin on fringe: tassels. From jewel-encrusted tassels in bright, punchy colors (such as this statement necklace from Belk), to tassels in gold and silver (such as these gold tassel earrings from BCBG) that add a touch of whimsical sophistication. We’re seeing tassels pop up on clutches and cross-body bags, booties and even belts.

My best advice for fall is to start incorporating these pieces once the temperatures drop and it feels right. Play with fashion, integrate your old favorites with new pieces and have fun! Break the rules, create your own and I will see YOU at Galleria Dallas looking fabulous.

xoxo
