Holly’s September Hot List

Though the leaves have not yet begun to change colors, my style choices have definitely started their seasonal transition. I feel like at this point in the year it’s the time to shed my summer staples and start looking toward fall trends I can wear NOW (yes, even in the heat). Here are the things you’ll find in my closet on repeat this month and beyond.

denim-skirts

Denim Skirt
Never ever, ever, ever throw away your denim if it still fits. It’s bound to come back into style eventually. But even if you’re like me and purged your best denim skirt, you have plenty of standout options to choose from. This classic from Zara buttons up the front and features an on-trend A-line silhouette. The unfinished hem and slight distressing also gives it some edge. If you’re in search of a fun way to rock casual Friday, look no further than this pencil skirt from J.Crew, with its tailored silhouette and funky frayed hem. This angled option from bebe would be the perfect piece to slip on before date night with your special someone. And if your budget allows for a splurge, this AG option from Nordstrom offers designer detailing in a cutoff style.

Statement-sleeves-Revised

Statement Sleeves
Statement sleeves come in all shapes, colors and sizes, but this is Texas, so I say the bigger the better. I’m loving this Anya dress from GUESS by Marciano. Its rosy beige color makes it easy for me to wear while I savor the last bit of summer. If you’re on the hunt for a shirt, try this tiered-sleeved beauty from Club Monaco, which can be dressed up or down thanks to the sleeves’ delicate layers, or Banana Republic’s striped flutter-sleeve top, another classic you can easily transition from work to play. This gorgeous boho printed dress from BCBGeneration has elbow-length sleeves that lend a flowy, feminine touch and a decidedly fall palette.

Metallics-revised-v1

Metallics
Don’t be afraid to try the metallic trend this season! Though they may seem intimidating, metallics offer a pop of pizazz to your look but in in a versatile neutral palette. These slip-on shoes from ALDO are sure to spice up your typical denim and white tee look. Ditto for this retro-chic minaudiere from GUESS by Marciano. This disco-worthy sheath dress from Forever 21 is a fun way to play with this trend without investing a fortune. And though it may be a little too hot to wear a jacket right now, you’ll definitely want to snatch up this metallic bomber from Zara before it’s gone! A bomber is a must-have this season (see my August Hot List) and this one is totally giving me Gigi Hadid vibes.

stacked-heel-booties

Stacked Heel Booties
This fall, the stacked heel bootie is a thing, and I’m not complaining one bit. There are so many styles to choose from — this open-toe ankle-strap bootie from Marmi is the perfect summer-to-fall transition shoe. If you want to keep things more traditional, this chestnut pair from Buckle is both stylish and economical, or if you’re in the market for something a little more sophisticated, pick up these polished leather stunners by Sam Edelman from Nordstrom.

Regardless of which trends you decide to add to your lineup this fall, the time is now to head to Galleria Dallas to pick up these styles while they’re fresh on the rack. Don’t feel like you have to wait till the season officially changes on September 22 to indulge!
