Holly’s October Hot List

October is a great time for dressing up, and I’m not even talking about costumes—yet! This month’s trends are far from tricky, so read on for the treats you’ll find at Galleria Dallas — here is my October Hot List.

blush

Blush
It’s the perfect time to think pink. Not only is October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but one of the stand-out shades of the season also happens to be pink — blush pink. A little different than your typical pastel shade, this season’s blush tones are warm, elegant and sophisticated. Elevate your workwear with Ann Taylor’s cotton twill pencil skirt and Carson tassel suede pumps. Once you’re off the clock, try a more whimsical take on this trend with these ballet-inspired skirts from TopShop at Nordstrom and Zara.

And don’t forget the accessories. This tassel saddlebag from BCBGeneration and retro watch from Tous will keep you on-trend and on time. To add a touch of glam to any look, try these rose gold Parallele earrings from Swarovski or these Ryan cat-eye sunglasses from J.Crew.

bomber-jackets

Bomber Jackets
If there was just one big trend for fall, it would be the bomber jacket! With so many styles to choose from, this transitional topper is the perfect piece to add to your closet as we enter into (somewhat) cooler weather. I’m loving the embroidery style of the souvenir jacket from Forever 21 and the limited-edition bomber jacket from Zara. All-over patterns are also a thing this season, and the lace bomber and the tapestry bomber from Express are beautiful examples of this. If a solid color is more your style, try the Kendall & Kylie quilted-sleeve bomber jacket from PacSun for its edgy shine. And speaking of shine, this gold-toned bomber jacket from Zara is as chic as it gets.

velvet-final

Velvet
Texture is huge this season, and there’s no better texture than velvet (and no, we don’t have to wait till the holidays to rock this luxe fabric). If you’re playing dress-up, I recommend this frilled velvet top or printed velvet dress, both from Zara. The silk-blend velvet pants from H&M are both comfortable and stylish and can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. To wear velvet a bit more casually, try these wine-colored velvet skinny pants by rag & bone from Nordstrom, or elevate a pair of jeans with the one-button velvet blazer and velvet jewel-tone necklace, both from Banana Republic. And, finally, strut in style with the luxe platform Gonzo pumps or Irenee-V velvet sandals from Steve Madden.

backpacks-final

Backpacks
I find it so satisfying when form meets function, and backpacks do just that. The romance backpack from Tous offers a classic backpack shape and thoroughly modern style. The canyon quilt mini turnlock rucksack from Coach wows with its edgy patchwork detailing, and the ruby red hue and zipper feature on the MCM side-stud coated canvas backpack from Nordstrom will certainly turn heads. If you’re looking to make less of a statement, take a look at the Harper stripe leather backpack and the Thea leather backpack by Tory Burch from Nordstrom. Finally, the Michael Kors Viv large leather backpack in black and the Gloria Melbourne backpack from Brahmin both offer classic yet modern styling to go with all of your favorite fall looks.

I’m looking forward to dressing up for Halloween with my kids, but you don’t have to wait to find these trendy treats and more this month at Galleria Dallas!
