Holly’s November Hot List

November has arrived, and this month is definitely a reminder of everything there is to be thankful for. This includes great friends, a supportive family and, of course, a cornucopia of fall fashion trends! Here’s my November hot list, full of styles for which I’m giving extra thanks.

pearls-final

Pearls
Pearls are timeless. They’re classic, elegant and the perfect way to dress up an outfit. But this season’s pearls are not your grandmother’s pearls — they’re modern and edgy.

I’ll start with these dangling pearl earrings from Zara, which make a serious statement. I love, love, love the bold, oversized drop. If you’re interested in a drop earring with a lower profile, you should check out the vermeil silver Happy Moments earrings with pearl from Tous. The flower detail is adorable as is the fact that they’re mismatched — one earring is just a stud. The Elsa Peretti mesh earrings from Tiffany and Co. are another charming combo of offbeat and classic. The mesh also adds a stylish modern twist.

Speaking of mesh, this gold and steel Icon mesh bracelet with pearl from Tous is another classic in the making. I love the combination of steel and gold, and the pearl adds just the right touch of glam to this delicate piece. For a bigger statement, try the desert pearls bracelet from Uno De 50, which features oversized pearls and sterling silver beads on a woven leather cuff for a more casual look.

Pearl necklaces have also received a contemporary update such as in this Oh Man! choker from Uno De 50. The rigid silver-toned design is definitely edgy, and I like that it’s asymmetrical and open. The Edify all-around necklace from Swarovski is another simple but stunning piece. The rose gold chevron pattern is lined with crystal pavé and is both glamorous and versatile.

otk-boots

Over-The-Knee Boots
The weather is finally cooperating, so I can bring my boots out of hiding! These over-the-knee styles pair well with skirts, dresses and skinny jeans and are both statement-making and utilitarian.

For casual wear, I love the dramatic twist the shaft height brings to classic riding boots. The Joanie suede boots by Michael Kors come in a variety of colors, but I can’t wait to rock the caramel shade. Belk offers a Frye style in black waxed suede that’s a similar silhouette but a different finish.

If you want to elevate your style, try a block heel such as these Vince Camuto Melaya boots exclusive to Nordstrom. I love that the thicker heel makes it easier for all-day wear. These velvet over-the-knee heel boots from Zara feature a chunky heel in contrasting black against navy velvet, all of which combine to add texture, height and interest to your footwear.

Stilettos are never not sexy, even when they’re covering most of your leg. The Norland boots by Steve Madden add 4.5 inches of towering style to your cold-weather looks, and the corset-like lacing on the back is a seriously sultry detail. The Abella leather boots by BCBGMAXAZRIA add height to a classic style that would work as well for the office as it would with denim.

turtlenecks-revised

Turtlenecks
It always feels like the window for turtlenecks is narrow in Texas. Regardless, it’s that time! I love the big snap detail on this otherwise simple sweater from Zara. The contrast is both slimming and eye-catching. And you can still rock a turtleneck on warmer days with the help of this elbow sleeve cold shoulder sweater from Express. The shoulder cutouts are a seductive detail, and the quarter-length sleeves are practical and modern.

But turtlenecks aren’t just for sporting solo — they’re also the perfect canvas for layering. This tissue-weight t-shirt version from J.Crew comes in 13 different colors and are thin enough to top with a cardigan or jacket. I can’t wait to rock this Julie printed turtleneck from Club Monaco under a blazer for work and play. For even easier styling, this Ariela layered top from Marciano at Guess has already done the work for you!

If you’re looking to take your turtleneck full body, try the Eliza J cable knit sweater dress from Nordstrom. I recommend styling it with booties! And for an oh-so-glam look, check out this Ameuya sweater from BCBGMAXAZRIA. Fully commit to the look with matching bell-bottoms here!

windopane-checks-final

Windowpane Checks
Regardless of what material it is, plaid just screams “cozy.” And with windowpane plaid, your look can be both cozy and chic.

For cooler days, this Eileen Fisher merino wool long cascading jacket from Nordstrom is the perfect layer. I also love the asymmetric shape on this sleeveless shawl from BCBGeneration.

Windowpane checks are a flattering pattern for dresses, too, because the plaid’s boxy design is so clean. I love the beautiful blue of this Beatryce plaid silk dress from BCBGMax Azria and the graphic look of this black and white shirt dress from Zara. If you’re more interested in separates, check out the timeless shape of the Lovelle skirt from Club Monaco.

Finally, I couldn’t leave off a tried-and-true fall favorite: the flannel. This Dylan plaid shirt from Guess is the perfect modern take on an old classic and is light enough for warmer autumn days.

This month, let’s remember to give thanks for all the wonderful things in our lives. While you’re at it, make a trip to Galleria Dallas to grab a few new things to be thankful for!
