Galleria Dallas :: Holiday Celebrations 2009

Galleria Dallas' 95' feature tree, the tallest indoor tree in the country, can now be found in the middle of our legendary ice skating rink. This year's tree is green in more ways than one! All of the tree's approximately 440,000 twinkling lights have been converted to LED lighting - using 10% of the energy consumed by traditional lighting.

The country's tallest indoor Christmas tree on Galleria's legendary ice skating center is plenty of news, but the holiday's BIG news is about our holiday skate shows. This year's “Gold Medal” holiday celebration includes the lighting of the Christmas tree featuring ice skating shows with U.S. National Skating Champions and 2010 Winter Olympic hopefuls. These shows provide a rare opportunity for you to preview the top skating talent to represent the United States in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. It's the only venue where the public can see all of these skaters in one location, performing free shows. Joining each show is Missile Toes, Galleria's ice skating, back-flipping Santa Claus, along with students from Galleria's ice skating school. Guests can enjoy the sounds of the Plano Civic Chorus before the first show, Friday, November 27 at noon. Show times, dates and performances:

Santa is in his village: November 21-December 24
Santa, straight from the North Pole, is ready to visit with children in his village on Level 2 near Saks Fifth Avenue. Galleria's Santa is THE authentic Santa (if you don't believe me, tug on his whiskers). Daily during shopping center hours. Santa will be off the set during his skating performances and for daily consultations with the elves at the toy factory.

New this year

This season Galleria Dallas is adding a new element to its famed traditional holiday celebration – a Salvation Army Angel Tree. Conveniently located on Level 3 near the Children’s Play Place, the Angel Tree will be available for Galleria guests now through December 13. To help address the expanding community need, Galleria Dallas guests are invited to select one or several Angel Tags from the tree and then have great fun shopping for their special holiday adoptees! Each tag contains the first name, age, gender, clothing sizes and special needs and wishes of a needy child, senior or disabled adult. Shoppers can choose to purchase the specified need, the wish or both. Each unwrapped gift should be returned to the Angel Tree no later than Monday, December 14.
