JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of Position:

Responsible for overseeing all food preparation, food service and service staff on all shifts.  The Store Manager is responsible for all aspects of Quality Control, Inventory Control, meeting operational Profit & Loss projections, Staffing the Unit, Performance Management of the Unit Staff, Scheduling, Time Keeping, Training, and Discipline.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1.       Ensures the brand expectations and standards are upheld

2.       Trains, coaches and supports staff; plans and sets goals with the owners; focuses on in-store problem solving/process improvement

3.       Works with staff to identify coaching and training opportunities that will improve sales or productivity. Monitors and addresses sub-standard service levels.

4.       Looking at the pricing of products and analysing the potential profitability

5.       Reviews products and services

6.       Provides guidance and information to team partners regarding products, policies, procedures, and systems.  Analyze and develop action plans, follows up and revises action plans as necessary. Monitors and implements programs to improve order accuracy, speed of service, courtesy and cleanliness

7.       Follows up on customer complaints

8.       Does not compromise in creating and maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers.

9.       Ensures compliance with all local health and safety laws and F&HB policies

10.    Directs all personnel activities (hiring, interviewing, training, schedules, promotions, performance evaluation) for employees in the unit.

11.    Oversees expenditures in food and labor to meet profit objectives.

12.    Participates in budgetary and policy formulation.

13.    Evaluates and recommends changes in food service operations (e.g. menu items, recipes, portion and quality control, etc.) to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of operations.

14.    Forecasts needs of food and supplies and directs the ordering of foods and supplies.

15.    Supervises sanitation and storage activities, including inventory control.

16.    Manages quality control by making careful inspection of cooked food to determine that foods are properly prepared, seasoned and served at the correct temperature for tasty serving.

17.    Manages daily profit/loss operations making any necessary adjustments to operations.

18.    Takes on additional responsibilities as required

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Must have extensive knowledge of and ensure compliance with all site, corporate and provincial regulations and procedures as they pertain to the respective department.
  • Passion for excellence in customer service and the ability to lead by example in this area
  • Understanding of budgets and food/labour costs
  • Experience in computer software applications such as Excel, Word, POS
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills
  • Solid decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities (organization and prioritization skills)
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction and meet deadlines
  • Solid communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required (Evenings, Weekends, Holidays)

·         Candidate needs to have a “hands on” approach to getting all projects completed with a high level of quality in a timely and efficient manner.

Experience, Training, Certification and Education (demonstrating requirements):

·       Minimum 5 years management experience working with high-volume full service dining or Quick Serve restaurants

·       Post-secondary education in Hospitality or a related field

·     Provincial  “Food Safe” certificate required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to stand for long periods of time

·         Ability to work all shifts and flexible hours

·         Works in hot, cold and humid environments

·         Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

·         Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
