For me, March signals the beginning of spring, and I L-O-V-E spring! It means – fingers crossed – beautiful weather and a daily influx of fresh new fashion through our doors. This season we’re seeing so many exciting, new takes on classic fashion trends that it’s easy to update your wardrobe with a few key pieces.
Stripes are often a staple of spring, and these fashionable lines are popping up in so many new and interesting ways.
I always add a striped shirt to my wardrobe, and this season, designers are freshening the basic striped t-shirt with off-the-shoulder accents. Club Monaco’s Felicienne sweater makes you feel like you stepped right out of a Paris bistro. J.Crew brings one of the season’s hottest colors – yellow – into the mix.
A chic shirtdress is so “of the moment,” and BCBGMaxAzria adds interest to their crisscross shirt dress with subtle blue pinstripes. Spring Break season is just around the corner, and Tommy Bahama’s bold stripe sweater dress can be worn as a beach cover up or a fun day dress.
Accessories with stripes are also a new trend that’s popping up. Nordstrom’s Crispin drop earrings from BaubleBar are so fun!
While the bodysuit might have hit its fashion apex in the ‘70s, we’re seeing this outfit make a sly comeback in all sorts of styles. Why the big secret? Because when worn correctly, no one even knows you’re wearing a body suit. You just happen to look perfectly put together without bunching or untucking. And there is nothing dated about that, am I right?!
The classic bodysuit has always had a place in business dress, and this Express essential white button-up is no exception. Even in the slimmest of pencil skirts, this crisp white blouse will lie perfectly without bunching.
So often though I hear people who think they cannot wear a bodysuit because they are afraid of wearing something so fitted. This floral print bodysuit from Zara should put those fears to rest. The visible part of this gorgeous garment is a flowing blouse to hide those areas you’re sensitive about with flare or floral.
Bodysuits can go bohemian too, as we see in this Free People design from Belk. With spring festival season right around the corner, this go-to piece pairs perfectly with your most daring denim or your most relaxed maxi.
H&M brings bodysuits into evening wear with this lacy bodysuit. I love the figure defining contrast trim, and the slim silhouette which makes it a great layering piece or a dramatic statement on its own.
Pleats are perfectly on trend this spring. I love a great pleated skirt from H&M which is so effortless you could wear it with almost anything and get in a variety of colors.
Dark romantic floral prints have been fashionable for a few seasons now and bebe’s print pleated maxi dress amps up the style with fabulous accordion pleats that run the whole length of the skirt.
Designers have been favoring micro-pleats which in laments turn is a tiny, tightly joined collection of pleats. Forever 21 showcases this trend beautifully with their satin pleated culottes and top. What a great way to stay on top of the trend without breaking the bank.
We’re even seeing these perfect pleats as trim. The pleated button-up top from Banana Republic can be worn as a layering piece on cooler days and can continue to be a style staple all the way into summer.
Slides & Mules
This season’s hottest shoes have one thing in common – they’re backless. Whether you choose slides (open toe) or mules (closed), these shoes are a high style way to show off your newly pedicured toes.
If you really want to show off your polished toes, Marmi’s blue Vaneli tasseled mule provides a great pop of color, and the natural cork heel is a great accent. I love the fun, retro feel that Zara gives their high heel pom-pom slide. The playful trim will always get noticed, even with the simplest of outfits.
So head to Galleria Dallas to find these fresh spring trends – they’ll put a spring in your step and a sparkle in your eye so you can kick of the season in style!
