You already know that Galleria Dallas is the No. 1 place to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones (and yourself) this holiday season. But did you know that it’s also a great place to experience the holidays? We have a lot going on this holiday season, and we’d love to see you around. (You can find our event calendar here.)
For this month’s Getting to Know the Galleria, we spoke to the big man himself: Santa Claus! We found him in his Village on level 2, near Belk.
How many holiday seasons has your Galleria Dallas workshop been in operation?
I’ve been spreading the holiday spirit at the Galleria since 1982! But I’ve been spreading cheer around the world for much longer than that, of course.
What do you love most about having a workshop at Galleria Dallas?
I love getting to meet all the nice boys and girls. Plus, you can’t beat the mild Texas winters. My elves love getting a break from the frigid North Pole.
Which gifts have you received the most requests for this year?
Lots of children are asking for American Girl dolls and Legos. I think they’ll be really happy when they wake up on Christmas morning!
Is there a particular item you continue to get requests for year after year?
Legos! We must have a generation of budding engineers and architects on our hands.
What’s the most rewarding part about being Santa?
I love to make people smile. That’s what keeps me so holly jolly!
What’s your go-to Galleria Dallas eatery for fueling up on Christmas Eve?
The Nordstrom Ebar keeps me caffeinated, which is important for long nights — especially the long night. I also like to stop by the Nestlé® Toll House® Café for cookies. You already know how much I love cookies.
On days you’re not wearing the suit, which Galleria Dallas retailers do you frequent?
What do you mean, not in the suit? Just kidding. I like to shop for gifts for my loved ones all over Galleria Dallas. The Armoury at Champs Sports is great for sports fans, and I like that BoxLunch puts a charitable spin on holiday shopping. It feels good to give back while you’re shopping.
You meet so many children every day, and you must get some pretty humorous requests. What are some of the most memorable things you’ve heard kids ask for?
I get a lot of requests for animals, especially giraffes and elephants. Those are always funny. This year several kids have asked for prayers for the police and for the greater Dallas community, and that’s sweet.
What does Santa want for Christmas this year?
That’s easy. World peace.
Santa and his team, including a special appearance by Mrs. Claus on Christmas Eve, and a fleet of elves, are available for photos through December 24. You can find their schedule here. And if you’re shopping for gifts, don’t forget to take note of Galleria Dallas’ special holiday hours.
Happy holidays, everyone!
